Bring it on. The Good. The Bad. The Ugly. Starting off....JW's Steakhouse in Carmine, TX. We drove to Round Top yesterday for lunch. Wrong! Round Top is closed on Monday & Tuesday. A nice gentleman suggested JW's Steakhouse in Carmine, TX. It was on the way (US 290) back to Houston. Why not? We had a C.F.S. two-fer. Lisa had the sandwich and I had the whole thing. Fabulous! My only nit-pick: fries instead of mashed potatos. I liked smashed potatos with my C.F.S. and gravy. The gravy was GREAT! The onion rings were spectacular. Lots of good beers on tap. Don't miss this place! I really like the CFS from Texas Roadhouse. I'll make note of JW's Steakhouse incase I find myself in Carmine, TX. Not a fan of the C.F.S from Chili's either . |

Used to be the best I ever had was a hole in the wall on the side of the road called Hugo's out near Shallowater. Long since gone. Haven't had one in years that comes close unless we include homemade... --------------------------- Nevermind -- I'll take care of it myself! |

I consider myself a conniseur of CFS.. had them from many different places. Chilis is terrible as it is Chicken Fried salt Steak. Lone Star Cafe in Huntsville is pretty good but a bit too greasy My favorite place thus far, for about 3 years now.. Goodsons Cafe in Tomball.. Best CFS ever! |

I found it! Sure has changed since 1977... used to be filled with the old furniture from drug stores... but the CFS still looks good... Colonial Restaurant, 3820 N Main in Fort Worth is just a little diner that isn't even open for dinner. Great CFS. Babe's in Roanoke has great CFS, if you can force yourself not to order the chicken. |

If you're ever in SA and dare to go to the south side of town (grew up there so home for me). Give a little place called Bud Jones a try, and their ladies portion will do most men in. No little women on the south side of town I guess. Another good CFS in SA is Broadway 5050. It's on, well, 5050 Broadway. They have a great little CFS. |
