DVD Ripping Software - 03-24-2011, 11:12 PM

Help please!

I know there are a number here that are into the techno geek stuff like having your movie library on your computer. I've decided to give it a shot but have immediately run into issues. I can't use some of the software that used to be great for ripping dvd's to hard drive.

**NOTE** I am not asking about ripping dvd's that I do not own! This is strictly for ripping dvd's that I have purchased... legally... to my computer for easy access and so they don't get all scratched up.**END NOTE**

What software have you found that does a good job. I would LOVE freeware but don't see that happening so I understand I will have to pay. I kid, I'm more than happy to pay as I shouldn't expect it for free.

Also, any setup suggestions for display?

Thanks in advance! I love you all... carry on.

Ken, Handbrake is the first one I downloaded but they don't include code to decrypt commercial dvd's anymore... apparently. Unless I am doing something wrong, I can't get it to copy mine.

If you are wanting to convert to MKV format, then MKVMaker will do the job nicely. It doesn't compress audio or video. DVD is converted lossless. Oh and its free and does BD disks as well

imgBurn. Free and will make ISOs out of the DVD. My WD TV Live HD has no problems streaming the ISOs straight to the tv.
