dog barking - 03-30-2011, 06:27 PM

I think we have covered this before but my neighbor has this "dog" when left outside barks ALL THE TIME. I've talked to her and she said it isn't left outside unless someone is home...well she lied. Today her daughter left for 90 minutes and left the dogs outside...the barked the entire time.

Over the weekend we were outside on Saturday from about 10 am until 10 pm...the dogs barked almost the entire time. We sprayed it with water, water and lemon juice, water and hot sauce, gave it a benedryl. Nothing worked. It gave me a migraine. This has been going on for weeks and I now understand why people would feed someone else's dog something to kill it......I am soo not saying I would but enough already. This is thee yappiest dog and the owner will NOT take care of it.

So today I called the home owners association. I didn't want to do it because they are renting and the owner actually gets the "ticket"....but I am done.

I am looking for other suggestions to get this dog to shut up. Please help!!!!

Well, I guess if you have talked to your neighbor, hopefully HOA will do something about it.

Call the Cops.

You pay your taxes, let them handle the problem.

I had this same problem when I was at university with a house behind the one I was in. Other than calling the HOA u can call the police and file a noise complaint and have then send a car by. Other than this there is really nothing u can do. If your city (area u live in) has noise restrictions u can go to the city too. Sry to hear about the problem. My father and broth are in lawenforcemen and this is what they told me my options were after talking to the owner. Good luck, hope it gets better

HOA cannot do much. Police can. Call them. I'll rent you my 80 lb pitbull for 30 minutes. :D

HOA is sending letters...if it doesn't stop they start sending bills. The problem is I like the owner...the owner gets the bills. Now of course he will start passing them on....but still I don't like the fact that this will be his problem...I want to either fix the problem myself or find a way to encourage the dog owner to do something.

Just remember it is not the dogs fault, it is the owners. If I remember right the HOA's in Texas do have a lot of power. IF it still goes on, tell them you will be calling the police. Be nice about it and try to work with them. Good luck.

Call the police on the non-emergency number and request for an officer to come out. When the officer arrives, advise them it is an ongoing issue and you would like a citation issued. If the officer is able to be at the scene during the disturbance he can issue the citation. If the dog is not disturbing the peace when they arrive, you can sign as a witness/complainant. If you sign as the complainant you will be required to go to court with the dog owner to speak before the judge.

My neighbors suck too. Its also a rental house. They make a ton of noise b/t 2:30am-7am. The previous tenants used to beat the hell outa each other on the front lawn at 1am, in front of their kids. I dont know what to tell you, b/c even though the police came out for people, they just resumed their behavior after the cops left. There are two dogs that are left out and bark non-stop. There's not much to do about it, usually.

Since you know the landlord, you should talk to him. I bet the tenants lease says something about not disturbing the peace. Maybe they arent even supposed to have the dog? That would be a quick fix if the dog is in violation of the lease.

The way I see it, the dog is barking but you don't have a problem making it the dog owners problem. Well, the renters are annoying so make it the homeowners problem. He/She may be nice, but if you have compained to the owner and they aren't taking care of it, I would suddenly start liking the owner less. If you haven't contacted the owner, why don't you try and see what happens. Good luck!

Well the small the dog...the yappier....its a pomeranien... or however you spell it. It's as bad as a taco dog!!!!!!! I don't see how they live it. My kids have thought of all kinds of things......

And I have contacted the owner of the house. He is aware of the problem via me...and will soon be aware of the problem via the HOA.

Yeah yeah, I have a small penis. (KIDDING!!!!! DON"T SLAY ME ABEL)

I actually have a Maltese that we had before the Mastiffs. BUT, I profiled the breeds and if there was one breed that is protective of the house and good with kids it is the Mastiffs. They love our toddlers and follow them around the yard like a security detail.
