Cool Intern initiation - 04-03-2011, 12:30 AM

For intern initiation day at a local studio, the photographer sent his intern to a camera store to see if they had some f-stops in stock.

That is all.

When I worked at a pizza place, we would send the new kid to another store to get an extra dough repair kit.

lol- in my restaurant days we used to send the newbies to the basement for ice cream mix....of course we had no basement..... :) ... or we would burn their arm with a pan so they would match the rest of the cooks....lol seems kinda cruel now that I think about it....

Back in the day of film developing and printing enlargements, would go into the camera stores and find the new guy and asked if they had a paper stretcher we could buy.

When I got my first job at a mall fast food place, one of the guys called the store from a pay phone. The other guy told me to answer it after they put a glob of mayonnaise on the earpiece. Your imagination can do the rest:P

As an electrician we would send the helpers to go bring back the wire stretcher.

Used to sell elevator passes & pool tickets to the Freshman... they had to have an elevator pass to get to the pool...

At the phone company we have what we call protector coils. Basically a piece of carbon in a plastic housing to protect equipment from lightning strikes. I put a note on one that said it was out of oil and sat it on a table in the office. Sure enough, the boss came by and asked where we get the oil for them and started calling around trying to find some. She wasn't too happy when another manager told her they don't have oil in them.

In the Navy, we would send the newbies down to the boiler room to fetch a bucket of steam.

When I worked on the flight line in the Air Force we'd have the new guys go out and change the air in the tires in the equipment from winter air to summer air. That and of course send them to one of the other shops and ask for ten feet of flight line, and some prop wash.

Way too many to post them all but we had a lot of fun with them and apparently way too much time on our hands at moments.
