I am wanting to make it back to Big Bend this month and thought it may be a great opportunity to turn this into a TPF group trip. My dates are flexible. Anyone interested? Carpooling may be a great way to save on gas and fatigue from a long drive. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Carpooling may be a great way to save on gas and fatigue from a long drive. | I literally just got off the phone talking to a friend about BB and figured I'd comb thru the forum to see if anyone else is talking about it. I've been thinking about throwing my bike and camera gear in the car and taking off for a few days this month.
I've been combing the internet looking for info. Do you know how the weather is this time of year? I've just lightly began looking into preparing for going.

I believe a recent Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine has an article on BB, you might want to look for it.

THe FW Camera Club usually goes in March before or After spring break (peak visiting time) April will be warmer, and you may still be able to see the bluebonnets there if you get there quick!
So wish I could go too! | | | |

I have been to BBNP twice for geological work and both times was awesome including camping in the basin. I am planning on going in Sept 1-5th when it's a little cooler. You will have a blast there.

Not sure what the weather will be - looks like April can be kind of mixed weather. The only other time I was there was a few years ago in October. Really hoping for some nice dramatic clouds this time.

I'm not much of a camper so that's making me a little nervous.

I don't camp
There are some decent motels in the area. Not luxury but decent.

Guess I'm suckin it up and makin it a camping trip I'm sure it'll be a great experience.

Spoke with the lady at Wildhorse Station and she said most of her rooms are booked through May 1st. They were on the cheaper side. Asked about the weather and they are already hitting close to 100 but the nights are still cool. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
