now I did it!! It wasn't the computers fault this time. Trying to remember how to do dual screens with my monitor and projector with windows 7. Accidentally hit the buttom to show only the projector ----only I can't get anything to show on the projector. I've double checked the cords. I have power and I have one cord from the computer to the projector for the "monitor " cord. but now I have nothing on my monitor to run the computer. I have rebooted the computer...but nothing.
Any suggestions??? | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

I'm not sure which video card you have installed, I would assume going into the video card app and setup either mirroring if you want to mirror your desktop or to extend your desktop onto another monitor.
I dont have win7, so I'm basically shooting in the dark :)

its probably best that you clone the screens through display properties
That works the best most the time, also depends on what video card you are running.
Is it ATI or Nvidia?

Ok this is wierd...I hit the windows icon on my desktop and hit P...it gives me my options to duplicate or extend my desktop. when I duplicate it's an issue, when I extend. I get the same background as my desktop but no icons. When I pull up a program, it shows it on my desktop but not on the projector. But I can use the mouse to move it between the two screens. ???? Wierd....
I'm searching to see which card I have...

Extends means, that you have more desktop space, so you can drag a window over to the projector portion of the screen. So you're wanting to mirror your desktop?

Renae, The projector may only accept certain resolutions at certain frequencies when you choose duplicate, sounds like it is using the current resolution for your monitor. Once you choose duplicate adjust your resolution to something like 728 x 1024 or whatever the projector will accept.

Is the projector on DVI? It has to be and you connect it next to the other monitor on your dual head video card. You have a AMD 5870 video card with 1gb of ram
It should auto connect.

Ok...this thing is crazy...I just did the same thing I've done 5 other times (click on duplicate 1 and 3 which is my monitor and projector) and this time it really did duplicate them and made them look the same? It's those electronic demons at work again!!!! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
