Fricken SD card decides to come apart in the camera slot.

And right before leaving to go to an event no less.

Luckily I was able to fish out the little 2cm piece that remained inside, otherwise no other card was going to seat and lock in place.

This was a Lexar 4GB 60x Class 4.

Wow, and people argue SD cards are better than CF because they are less likely to be damaged.

This happened to me when I had a D90.
I took a paperclip, made a small hook at the end with some pliers, then hammered the end flat. It's what I used to fish out very carefully the remaining plastic that was stuck on the contacts.
That paperclip is now in my "toolbag".

Yikes...and I was looking at Lexar cards this morning, to see what their speeds were.

I replaced it with an Eye-fi card and made it through the event ok :-)
