A few years back, one of our deputies responded to a wreck, only to find his son dead in the car.

Also, a few years ago, a woman saw a man struck by a car. She was one who stopped to see if she could help. Her son died in her arms there on the street.

Almost 30 years ago I was driving to work and watched as a line of vehicles approached. A small pickup passed several cars and pulled back into line but he was going too fast and lost control. His pickup got sideways and and then started rolling and all of a sudden a body was ejected out of the drivers side window. He must have been thrown 20 or 30 feet in the air and then landed on his head on the pavement. The young man was kept alive for 2 or 3 days before the family had to take him off life support.

If he had been wearing his seatbelt he probably would be alive today. The young man had just finished high school and was headed for class at the local community college. He was within sight of the college when the accident happened.
