Do you have some basic tools? It is a fairly easy job if you do. Can't help on shops in that area though.

I try to stay away from car repairs. About the only thing I can do without screwing something up is change the washer fluid.

Aww man, brake pads are the easiest. Especially if you have disc brakes on all four tires. A DIY job will only cost like $40, take it somewhere and it can be in the hundreds. Biggest rip off of all time.

You jack up the car, remove the wheel, unscrew and swing out the caliper, push back the piston, replace the pad, screw the caliper back in place, put the wheel back on, and done!

Pump your brakes a few times and job complete. I do mine myself, it easier than changing the oil.

I just did the brakes on my 05 Ford F150. Nothing like Ford really, super easy with just some basic tools.

I appreciate that everyone's trying to help... But let's not egg someone into brake work if they know they have no business doing it. :)

Yes. If you are not comfortable doing them yourself then do not try to learn on your own. Brakes are too critical to not feel comfortable doing with them.

Thanks, but trust me, I have NO intention of doing this myself. I have gotten really used to stopping when I push on the brake pedal.

A little out of your way, but I can recommend the Driver's Edge at Park and tollway. Tell Lenny Mark, his most annoying customer, sent you. He'll either fix you up or throw you out.

I have been using the Community Garage folks for the past 15 years. They are across the from Pep Boys Spring Creek at Alma, Plano. They were at Maso's Exxon Legacy at Independence for years before the Exxon was torn down and replaced with a Texas chartered bank.
Ed who runs the place is a Mechanical Engineer from Jerrash, JO.

Do not do your own brake job. I've been in the automotive biz for 30 years, believe me you can screw it up and you can wreck your car. I've seen both and I've charged customers a lot of money to fix botched jobs. Stick to the washer fluid and let it go at that.

You're probably more likely to run a stop sign and crash on stupidity than if you botched your own brake job. I'm nothing more than someone who tinkers and I've done motor swaps, axle swaps, transmission replacements...you name it I've probably done it. I even cut t-tops into a fourth gen Camaro. You learn by doing.

Being a tinkerer means you are probably handy and can and do these things.

In my years as a master mechanic in GM dealerships I can tell you there are plenty of people that can botch a brake job.

Hell I put a pad in backwards one time and didn't realize it until I got it off the lift and drove it. The thing with cars is they can be pretty mangled and messed up and put together with bubblegum and duct tape and still get you from point a to point b.
