That's today? Sorry I say that as if I were anywhere close. I'm curious, too.
Although, for what it's worth, Austin's Mighty fine tastes a lot better---but at a completely different price.

Austin is a little far for me to driving.
Can't wait til they put one in Houston so I can see what's up with all the hype.

Sorry I should have been more specific.
Two opened today in DFW, one in Frisco, one in Allen. Plans to open more in Irving, Ft Worth, Arlington, Dallas and Hurst. Expansion to Houston and S.A. in the near future.
Never been there, saw the huge line on TV today. Is it worth the wait?

They're alright I suppose. It was a big deal when they came north the the SF bay area. The first one they opened in Milpitas (Silicon Valley) was always packed. I ate there a few times and it's a pretty good burger. The fries are unique. Not great, not bad, just kind of meh IMHO. Shakes are pretty good.
It's worth a try if you're not far. Of course as always, YMMV.

So, as a former Californian who used to eat there a. Lot and stood in long lines every single time, yes it was worth it.
At their price point, I haven't come across anything close. The personal benefit for our family is that they use oils free of preservatives so my son who has food allergies can get to eat their fries (same for the burgers).
Now here in TX we have a lot more choices for burgers though. Only I haven't found a good and cheap burger yet.

I remember a similar hype when Steak and Shake came to town... I thought the food was... meh.
I can't stomach Whataburger... but then, most fast food hamburgers are pretty bad.

Whataburger? In their heyday, nothing was close. Today, it simply is not the same product, by a long shot.

I camped out so I could be first in line.
Carried some Whataburgers with me so I could make it through the night and show those Californians how to make a proper burger.

When a new Carl's Jr. opened near my house several months back, the line was a joke. Literally 30-40 cars in the drive-thru and people lined up outside to order inside. That went on for a while, but is now just like any other burger place. In my opinion, Carl's Jr. is just ok. In and Out is better than that, but NOTHING BEATS WHATABURGER!!!! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
