Cellular 3G vs 4G - Speedtest.net - 05-12-2011, 08:25 AM

Since we had the home/work internet speed thread I thought I'd try my cell too.

EVO 4G on Sprint, onsite at JSC

Ping Download Upload
3G: 201ms 413 kbps 716 kbps
4G: 136ms 7956 kbps 1049 kbps
WiFi: 129ms 4408 kbps 5047kbps

The WiFi one was interesting since my work internet is insanely fast, but 4G obviously destroys 3G.

My formatting went to hell when I posted...hmm

Just remembered the Wireless at work is only G.

These are great pieces of data - but keep in mind that the same speeds won't apply to everyone. I get amazingly fast 4g... but I have 3 CLEAR antennas on my building. Location matters.

I'll have to try mine downtown on Sunday. Verizon's 4G LTE is faster than Sprints WiMax.

3G in Concan, Hill Country

227ms | 3.25Mbps | 1.23Mbps

I wish I'd have these upload speeds with my DSL line.

I knew it wouldn't take long for the mine is better than yours.

It all depends on location etc.

In the case of LTE vs WiMax, the LTE networks have higher speeds. More a case of Verizon vs Sprint than anything else.

Looking to get a 4G LTE hotspot MIFI from Verizon soon, I'm guessing it should work as good as the cell phones. I only have 3G now but Verizon phones work in my building downtown, other services don't.
