That is what Amazon advertises so you can check on your order and track your order.

Well, I just may be skrewed! I made a purchase through the TPF/Amazon store and all went well. The seller shipped my pkg on the 13th. The USPS Tracking indicates "your item was accepted at 12:01 May 13th, 2011 in Los Angeles, CA. Estimated delivery is May 16th, 2011.

That is the last I have heard of my pkg.
I went to the post office today (after the mail had run) and made an inquiry. All they said was call the seller. Easier said than done. I can't find a number. So far I have sent two emails and they responded promptly saying they would check on their end.

That doesn't help me any since I need the item. I have bought a lot of stuff over the internet and shipping has been through all the carriers. This is the first time something has been lost. And wouldn't you know it, it is something I need ASAP and paid for "expedited shipping"! So much for 2 day shipping!

Sorry for the rant, but I am pi$$ed.

Not that this will help, there other shipping services that are now being used to process USPS shipments, If one of these services was used instead of direct to post office type there is going to be a delay, the fact you state you asked for expedited service and even from you tracking states delay indicatest to me they more than likely it was shipped thru one of the alternate methods.

I ship thousands a shipments a week and use one of the other services and my shipments that are local addresses go to Dallas and then back, which makes something that really should be there in a day or two show up in a week.

This is why I don't use USPS for anything important. FedEx or UPS. I have been preferring FedEx over UPS lately just because I really like the delivery person and I know approximately what time he comes to my neighborhood. Very convenient and polite. I had problems with USPS dropping off my packages few houses down by mistake and marking them delivered. Super sloppy. I would rather pay more and get my stuff I paid for.
I am sorry you haven't gotten your item. Hopefully it's on the way.

I finally got a real person on the line at USPS. They are going to check into it in the next 2 business days. All the rep had was the same info displayed on the tracking info. If it doesn't get scanned, there is simply no record of it's ravels. At least that is the way I see it.

In the mean time, I am SOL.

Sorry to hear about your issue. USPS = crappy 'tracking' system, FedEx/UPS = more accurate but you pay an arm and a leg for it. Also when dealing with Amazon's 3rd party affiliates, be aware of their ratings and returns. I've double checked and triple checked the seller when I decide to make a purchase through an affiliate.

Hope it arrives on your doorstep soon!

I had something shipped USPS from New York. It made it all the way here, but it went to the wrong LOCAL post office. It took longer to go from that local post office to my post office (which is about 15 miles) than it did to get here from New York.

Thanks Ken.
The seller shipped the item the next business day, so it is on it's way...somewhere.

USPS - Ship all the time with insurance & tracking... only issue I ever had was handle quickly & that was almost 10 years ago

UPS - Used to ship most large, expensive items... then they lost a shipment and took me almost SIX MONTHS to get the insurance paid

FedEx - Never lost anything... ever

The last 3 shipments I made via Fed Ex all got lost or were delivered to the wrong address - - and one of them was a passport and all the ORIGINAL supporting materials necessary for a visa to live in England as required by law - - birth certificate, Soc Sec Card, offer letter, financial statements, etc. - - all things I would not want in someone else's hands.

They were absolutely certain and very arrogant about not having delivered it wrong. But we actually tracked the delivery down in New York ourselves, remotely from Houston but calling the depot, talking to the dispatchers, leaving messages for the driver, and calling the other stops on his route. We ultimately found the package in a hospital shipment drop on Amsterdam Ave and had to convince Fed Ex that this is where it was. It took 2 more days for them to send an inspector out to verify the mis-delivery and then they had to send a driver back to get it, plus another day then to get it back in the delivery system.

When we complained about the delivery and the charge we paid for overnight by 11:00 AM delivery (several days earlier), they suggested that we drive to the depot in the Bronx and pick it up ourselves... they didn't get that it was delivered in NYC and that we were in Houston...

One mistake, I'll look the other way. Two mistakes, I get worried. Three in a row, including a lost shipment of something that important and I'm done with Fed Ex.

Mike, If your USPS is the same as ours, it is a joke. Ours is down your way..I should take a gun with me when I go...it is scary to go there even during the day. I have not received mail service at my house the last two days. And they wonder why they are loosing money....???

Thanks Renae. I have had the same USPS delivery lady for a couple of years. A rep called me today to say they scan all of their packages upon arrival at the Channelview office but they haven't seen the package.

Yesterday, I called the USPS customer service and submitted a complaint. They are supposed to be checking into it. Same for the seller. They have responded quickly to both emails and are checking on their end.

Tick, tick, tick...

Not that it helps, but I feel your pain. I had a letter sent out certified to a real estate client in another town, a gift card for selling them a piece of property.

Exactly one year and two days after I sent it, USPS returned to my office, "Invalid Address". I called the folks up. Their address was of course valid, but the gift card had expired and I couldn't get it exchanged for a new one. My boss's wife stuck it in a cheap frame and hung it in our mail room with a print out "Wonder why you're not getting any mail responses?"

Thank you, that is all.
