1. How big of a difference is there between 120Hz vs 240Hz for sports and movies?

2. Samsung has a new TV with Micro Dimming. What are your thoughts?
Features and Specifications - NEW! 46" Class (45.9" Diag.) LED 6900 Series Smart TV | Samsung TV/Video
Samsung - 46" Class / 1080p / 120Hz / 3D LED-LCD HDTV - UN46D6900W

I didn't think I left static images on the screen that much until I got a plasma. After watching 45 minutes of breaking news last month it took over an hour to get "Osama Bin Laden is Dead" off my screen.....and I have pixel shift turned on.
Or heaven forbid you fell asleep while watching a DVD and the menu pops up when it's over and stays on the screen.....
Or you let the kids watch anything......or your mom comes over and turns on the radar channel for hours.....

I strongly suggest you check the AVS forum. Just as we're the geeks for cameras etc., why duplicate research when there's a ton already out there...

I quickly picked up on that just reading some reviews.

The difference is very noticeable between 60 and 120, but there may be a noticeable diff 120-240, altho I haven't ever noticed it on my 120 plasma. If you can see it, it will be with fast moving objects and will appear as a 'tear' or distortion just behind or in front of the moving object. It compares to very localized pixelization or jaggies in over-compressed JPGs IMHO.

For sports I would think it is more important to have the faster rate. We chose plasma specifically due to this issue.

Perhaps I would have changed the station long before 45 minutes of the same image.....but seriously, I haven't noticed this issue. It could be a difference in brands/models that lends itself more or less to the problem.

But that sucks! That was a major story breaking, I don't want to have to change channels every 5 mins.
From what I've read, my TV is worse in this respect than Panasonic.
