Does anyone know of a place to get stained glass made? I'm looking to create something specific and window-sized.

I'm deep into Googling but the results aren't exactly on target. Besides, I trust recommendations from forum members more than I do Google...

Thanks!

Joe I saw a Stained Glass Gallery driving around last week in FW. Unfortunately, I am not sure exactly where. One of those "Hey that's neat" kind of things. Rather than Google have you tried the old standby, the yellow pages?

Do you want new? Or antique?
If antique works for you, there is a gentleman with a booth at the Canton Trade Days. He has a large assortment of old stained glass windows that can be reworked into a modern frame. He is from Louisiana and is there during the first Monday Trade Days.

Yellow pages? I haven't owned a phone book in years! I wonder if the library has one?

And Wayne, I'm looking to create something new, sorry. I wouldn't mind checking out Trade Days though, sounds kinda cool.

My son's MiL does some stained glass, I'll ask her when the get back from vacation; she'll at least have some references (they live in Carrollton)

If you send me a pm, I can give you the name/contact for someone in that business, here in D/FW. If he doesn't do exactly the kind you're looking for, he can probably point you in the right direction!

I took a glass class last year with a stained/fused glass artist. Her name is Nan, website: Dichroic Art Glass And Figurative Sculpture By Artist Nan Phillips. I don't know if she'd do commission work, but she probably knows a bunch of people who do. She's a past president of the Texas Sculpture Association and their current webmaster/newsletter person. VERY nice and very talented lady.

What's the budget for this? I know someone that does nice work, but it's a hobby, for he has a day job. It would have to be worth his while to do a commissioned piece.

Art shows are a good resource. You can meet and talk with the artist/craftsman. Make sure they are juried shows. Generally only the best make it into these.

The budget's about a grand.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I will follow up. Turns out there's a stained glass artist in Grapevine that is very good with the colors and design I'm looking for and has a lot of experience with large items so I'm currently talking with them ($$$).
