A fourm for all types - 02-28-2008, 06:16 PM

As some of you know, I'm going through what is best described as burnout with my portait photography as of late, but thankfully, I still find joy in landscape photography which is what I first started in and got recognized in, on so many levels. My point for this thread is to express my thanks for the open nature of CPF, ie, if you do primarily portaits, you have a place here, and if you do primarily landscapes, you also have a place here. Please, I am also a part of another awesome online photo community with some excellent photographers there as well, and I'm not knocking that fourm in any way shape, form, or any of the members there. But, as you can imagine, I have not been that active there lately due to my burnout. Well, thanks Abel for having a place like this around, even for those of us with burnout.

Isaiah

Here is to better times behind the lens to come. Take a rest. Regroup. Find the joy again that led you to make photography part of your life. Even if you don't shoot another frame for months, Come and visit.

Oh, it's not a total burnout, just doing portaits, that I'm taking a break from, but am REALLY excited to get back to my landscape photography!

I went through that a few months ago with weddings. I didn't shoot at all for about three months. I just finally decided to shoot on my own terms. If there was a wedding I wanted to do, I only agreed to do it if they gave me total creative freedom (that means no more formals, or posed shots). I've already booked three under those terms, and it is very nice.

I guess the moral is, only shoot the way you want to shoot. You don't "have" to shoot for anyone else.

Well, part of my burnout is from the bs from models etc. and basiclly not being appreciated for the work that I do. But, I have to agree with the moral of your story, I don't have to shoot for anybody else, I should shoot for what I want, and for at least the time being that's landscapes, even though I just did an event which involved people, but that's another thread, lol.
