The most common motorcycle accident is when a car and a motorcycle are driving in the opposite direction on a two lane city road and the car makes a left hand turn in front of the motorcycle they did not see. The motorcycles are typically right out in the open, but as this test shows, you don't always see what your not looking for.

I took a series of little tests like these in a psychology class a few years back. With the exception of a few, I usually saw everything in the scene, or showed awareness outside of what I was being directed. Interesting studies though, it was alarming to see how many of my classmates failed test after test.

I guess there is some truth behind that Harley saying "Loud pipes saves lives." But I agree, people do not pay attetion to anything on two wheels, I ride a bike and barely a day passes where somebody dosn't cut me off, tailgate me, swerve right in front of me, shout something out of the window, things like that. I think that the California highway system should be changed back to it's original laws regarding what types of traffic is allowed. Not only would people save time by not using highways intheir day to day travel (ok, out of town trips would take longer, but with fuel costs, who does that anymore?) but bicyclists would have a safe path around the state and each city. Yup, an odd fact that highways here in Califronia were not brought into being for any sort of motorized vehicle, but bicycles. Ok, let's here all of the rebuttals, lol.
