Have you ever... - 04-09-2008, 11:03 PM

It's known at my current job that I'm into photography and I take images and share them. Well I has asked today to bring in a sample of 8x10's by a couple of coworkers. I asked them if they are looking for a photographer, and the both said ''No, we just want to see your work in print instead of online."... They also asked it to be of various subjects, not just one type.

I just found it kind of strange, but I'll be taking a about 24 images to work of various things.

Well, I've been in the same situation, asked to bring in examples of my work. One thing I've found by doing this for so long, is that people still like to have something tangeble to look at other than a monitor screen. Plus, I've always thought two things, no print, no picutre, and the proof is in the pudding, not virtual pudding so to speak. That's why I have 2 books, one of my landscapes and one of portaits, both containing 48 8x10 of my work for when I meet potential models, and just to show that I am what I say I am. Hopefully this helps Scott.

Scott, who at work is asking to see your work? Is it a co-worker or a supervisor? I ended up not only being the "official" photographer for my shift (I work a compressed work week, sun-tues, and every other wed), but now they are asking me to take photos for Shift 1 (mon-fri).

At the very least, they are setting up those shoots for the days I work.
Not really technically challenging, but time consuming as far as post processing, etc.

Intel considers that since they are paying me, that covers my duties as a photographer as well.

Now here's where it rubs me the wrong way, they consider that they own the copywrite on any images taken at work :irked:

I have GOT to come up with a good watermark.

Remind me, at my next job, not to mention that I am into photography.
