For my original rant, see

Well, they threw us a party at the Santa Clara Hilton Convention Center.
There were over 1300 people in attendance. They gave away door prizes.
They made speeches. People cried, and said goodbye.
During the next two weeks, people cleaned out lockers, desks and cabinets.
We got rid of a ton of testwafers, and even threw away the boxes that hold the wafers, and are used to run them in the tools.
We had a celebration on our shift, on our last day, and even popped the corks on a bottle of apple cider (they didn't want to go with the champagne) in the FAB.
We had our very last ERT (Emergency Responce Team) quarterly event the day after our last day of work, our annual camping trip.
Everyone who was set to work the Demo team was supposed to go back in on Monday the 30th for a 10 hour safety class.
The people who were leaving, got a week off, paid, and were to return on the 7th of July for instructions on how to fill out the paperwork.
So, we are hanging around the campsite, and someone gets a phonecall.
The factory in Oregon can not keep up with the demand for a certain chipset, and Intel could potentially lose a good customer because of it.
Can anyone see the writing on the wall yet?
Yup, they want to start D2 back up, and run the chipsets, and they want us to save the day. Again.
How many times do they think they can rip our hearts out and shred them up?
Well, I go in on Monday to find out what the details are. Supposedly (and I have a good source, that I confirmed across three different people, who all had the same story) they want us to run for a year. Possibly more.
There had better be another retention bonus, and it better be a good one.
