Unresponsive drivers just don't get it - 06-16-2009, 10:37 AM

You know whats really a pain in the uhum ? is to have a driver that won't stop the car when you ask them to and then when they finally do its to late so you are trying to shoot while moving and you get camera shake. I can't even begin to count how many photographs have been ruined for this reason. Then they want to shoot as well but they choose just click away and not take in to consideration the three main rules of photography.

1. What is the subject of my photograph?

2. How can I focus attention on my subject?

3 Dose anything distract from my subject and can I simplify my photograph?

I can't really say much about my Sierra trip as it was quite bumpy and as i mentioned above the driver just won't listen or is quite impatient to move on.

I think that if a person volunteers to drive you then they should take into consideration what you are trying to do on that trip..

I know I'm not the only one that has been in this situation .. This is just my B*^#h session.

you definitely need a partner in crime...it has made my life much more pleasant...my trips more memorable...and my photographs better to have a person in the car who has the same mind set.

Thanks G. You are a god send.

I don't recall you being there for any of the night shots.

Driving my life away - 07-10-2009, 11:37 PM

Ya'll are just to true to be real.. ohh wait thats to Real to be True huh.. Funny that i came across my own words again as they still hold true but the hahaha part of this is , is that I just talked to my perspective driver aka my husband and told him there is not almost stopping there is just stop and that is it..hahahaha we will be making a trip to San Francisco on Sunday and to tell you the truth i am nervous about the whole thing. You see i am a student of NYIP aka New York Institute of Photography and i really want to do my best to make them proud of my photographers eye and also to pass the critique of Unit mmmmmmm 2 which involves these projects.

Photography #1 Emphasizing the subject by its size and off-centering placement

Make a horizontal photomicrograph in wh8ch the subject is both very large and placed somewhat off to the side, following the rule of thirds.

Photograph #2 Using framing to focus attention on your subject.

Photograph an object, person, or scene, framing it wiht tree branches, an archway, a window, or some other objects.

Photograph #3 Using leading lines to draw attention to your subject.

Photograph a person or object using leading lines to guide the viewers eye to the subject. If the subject is relatively small, be sure it contrast well with the background.

So i think i got the leading subject with SF not to sure about the others but yet there is another project at hand that will be challenging.

LIGHTING for project #3

which involves side-lighting, back-lighting, open shade, and reflector board

I think i should scan my lessons in so everyone here can try them out and see what they come up with .. what do you all think?

I do know that on lesson 2 I did pass on a B so far.. not sure for lesson one as i didn't pay attention and do my q & a for that particular one. but from now on.

As I am new to this i will learn as i go in reading and doing.

San Franciso on Sunday and Reno on Monday .. i pretty much think my Shoot is full.. Hey if all else fails i got 2 months to deal with my photo projects.. besides stress in not a options .. I'm ready to hang with my sis and brother-in-law.. Kool-aid Totally Dudes hah:w00t: ahahahahaha:w00t:

HAHAHA You are absolutely priceless, wendy.. you know there is one objective to our trips and thats to get the ultimate visual and as we all know there is one thing that keeps us from doing so .. DRIVERS.. so put a camera in their hands and tell them to enjoy the view that God created !!! I got my extra camera ready.. I hope he sees with his own photographers eye this time around because we got a busy week coming up ...

Many Happy Happy Joy Joy Memories to you Wendy

Tamber,
Have any idea of where you are going in SF? Bringing your tripod for the GG bridge shots from Ft. Baker? Napa in the morning with fog? The city offices in Civic center look nice.
Lots of places to see.
