Hey guys, my roommate and I are looking for some challenges to keep our photography stimulated and fresh. We were thinking of doing some photo challenges and getting critiques and comments.
Our problem is we shoot very different styles, so we want to use some unbiased leveling for the challenges: you! (yes, we're using you)
If you've got some time, cook up a little photography challenge or subject for us to capture. Maybe something you've done in the past, something you've seen others do. Post up the idea, and then possibly join us for the challenge!
Thanks all!

You mean, "The Iron Photographer"?
the subject of todays cookoff will be Fog.
I did see a photo of the American river in Pop. Photo. where there was fog over the river in a timed exposure.
What styles are you looking for.

What are your different styles?
That way, we can come up with something that might be challenging to both of you, rather than picking one thing (such as a landscape) that might be a shoe-in for one of you, yet acing the other out.

I think we should have a section here as they do over at TPF. It's a monthly challenge exercise. Subject changes each month and you post a picture that you feel fits the theme for the month. | | | |

I will never submit to a race car theme, some unnamed people around here would have that in the bag.

As far as styles are concerned, don't worry about it. If one of us ends up with an advantage, then it just serves to motivate the other to push himself that much more.
Just post up some themes or subjects that you like! We'd prefer to see something simple for the first few, and really want to use the time as a good reason to get out and explore this city, its people and land marks, and the surrounding areas. On top of that, it offers a good way to stay creatively open to new photographic opportunities. Bring it all on! Macros, landscapes, people, cars, you name it, we'll try it.
It would be great if this could evolve into a forum-wide monthly challenge of sorts. I certainly would not object.
Oh and to respond to some of your suggestions:
Fog will be somewhat tough to do for now, since Sacramento isn't seeing a lot of fog yet.
Duck? Like quack quack duck? Or like low-bridge duck? Or maybe who stepped on a duck? (flatus innuendo)
Thanks again all!

It's not like that. Take this months theme for instance, it's "Spooky". It's a creative exercise, other themes have been "Joy", "Labor", "Red, White and Blue", "Long Exposure". It's just a way to see how everyone interprets a given theme.

Actually Steve that is a good idea and not a hijacking. Rather than being specific with subject matter as in the "photo below me" thread. Using a word which can be interpreted different ways may be better. I am still not going to submit to the words Car, Fast or colorful ;-) It could be the "Word of the week thread"
Ever get the 28-135? (Now that's a hijack!)
