FYI - Registration for Last Shuttle Launch Is Open - 06-02-2011, 09:05 AM

To join the lottery for shuttle launch tickets, visit the registration page here. Looks like the launch is set for July 8th. Good luck!!


Registration closes on June 5, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. ET and a random drawing will be conducted to determine who will be offered the opportunity to purchase launch viewing tickets. You are not guaranteed tickets for any particular viewing location.

Launch Info:

Date: July 8, 2011
Mission: STS-135
Vehicle: Space Shuttle Atlantis
Site: Kennedy Space Center - Launch Pad 39A
Time: 11:40 a.m. ET
STS-135 Description: Space shuttle Atlantis will carry the Raffaello multipurpose logistics module to deliver supplies, logistics and spare parts to the International Space Station. Atlantis also will fly a system to investigate the potential for robotically refueling existing spacecraft.

My coworker got a Spaceflight Awareness award and gets to watch the last one from the VIP seats. Too bad she is awful with a camera.

1 of my was spaceflight awareness. She is going to have a great view. Just wish I could have seen a night launch, I hear those were awesome.

So the registration is closed... now the wait begins for the lottery. Any idea as to how long after they send out the notices for purchasing the tickets? Saw where there is only a single day to actually buy them and am terrified the notice (good or bad) will be missed.
