500 px.com - a great alternative to Flickr - 06-03-2011, 10:01 AM

Not sure how many of you are aware of this relatively new site called 500px - but it does a terrific job of displaying your photos.

I think the interface is much better than Flickr and the community of photographers includes a lot of advanced shooters and pros. It seems to have a wide following in Europe and Asia.

Here's my page on the site - if you decide to join, please let me know so I can follow your work at 500px.

500px / Jeff Clow

Highly recommended.

Another difference about this site as it allows you to SELL your photos as prints, cards, ecards, etc. You set the price and keep almost all the proceeds.

I think this may be the site that can compete - and win - vs. Flickr.

And full disclosure - I have no affiliation with the site whatsoever. Am just a big fan after using it a couple of weeks.

I just found this today. Really like the feel of it, still exploring features. Think I'm going to use it to display my iPhone images.

oh, here's my profile: http://500px.com/ChristieLacy

Looks like they make it pretty easy to right click save as those big image previews.

Yes, they haven't got that figured out yet. But I'm used to having my images stolen daily, so at least the stolen stuff looks better because 500 px.com does such a nice job of featuring images.

I'm typing that with a smile on my face. If you post on the internet, someone can always steal your shot. Harsh reality.

Interesting.

May end up using this over Flickr. I always hated Flickr's sets/collections thing.

Glad to have you as a friend/follower there. Post your link and I'll do the same.

I really like the site. Much better display capabilities than Flickr - and a lot of really talented shooters from around the world.

Ok I added a field here on the forum so that you can add your 500px.com profile page.

Go to your EDIT DETAILS section in you USERCP and add in your 500px.com username at the far bottom of the page

Direct Link Here:
http://www.pixtus.com/forum/profile.php?do=editprofile

the img shows up as this:

<--- once i get home this evening I'll make an actual icon for the 500px.com profile

Yeah, this definitely seems to have a better look and function to it than flickr. And I'm just comparing the free editions.

Wonder how long till they get a tie in to Lightroom so you can upload directly like for flickr and smugmug.
