Don,
Stirring, mind provoking, and gripping all at once. Although my teenage years were sooo long ago, I think of how teenagers might react to this today with the amount of information they have to digest and respond to.
I shoot for some of the high schools here in Plano and I see it first hand through their facebook pages. I know all of us at one point thought we were invincible, although I worry about this generation of teens and young adults who still believe that and also think that the world owes them something when they get out in the real world.
This is an extremely compelling piece and hopefully it is shown in a situation where there can be some open discussion, led by teens who have also been affected. There are many great moments in this video although, the best was the summary you made at the end that saving more than one kid would be the bonus. Too many times, these types of messages try to save the world all at once and it was refreshing to hear in the undertones of that final message that each person has to be accountable for their behavior, and that the behavior (good or bad) will always affect those around them.
It reminds me of a principle I use to teach in the corporate world... The principle of "cause and effect". Everything you say and do with another person as an effect... It's never irrelevant. The opposite is also true... Everything you don't do, and don't say with another person also has effect... It's also never irrelevant.
Great, great work. I'll be passing the link along to several youth groups i work with.
