4TH of July in Galveston - 06-13-2011, 07:17 PM

We just reserved our room at the Commador for the 4th. We did this last year and it was great. The fireworks are right across the street from the Hotel, and each room has a private balconey. Great view!!! Were on the 4th floor
Makes for great place to shoot fireworks. If anyone is interested the phone number is 409-763-2375, If they tell ya there full, keep checking back, thats what we did, been trying for about the last 2 weeks and finally they had someone cancel. I think they had a few rooms avalible, but will go quickly I bet.

I hope that there isn't going to be a ban of fireworks this year! I have a friend that just bought a house off Washington, and has a clear view of downtown. Might have to borrow a lens and set up a tripod. Maybe a shutter release too if I'm going to be drinking...

I remember that also, they would shoot them from the fishing pier out on the back of the hotel.

There's plenty room on the pier now to do that.

with the drought getting worse every day, I'm pretty sure the burn bans will hold for a while until we get a good soaking from a tropical depression or something... there was a news report/article on this recently since the fireworks businesses are worrying now that selling season is upon them.
