Terlingua/Big Bend weekend trip July1st

Anyone in the DFW area want to hitch a ride with me to Terlingua on July 1st?

I have a room booked here for Friday and Saturday:
Upstairs at the Mansion (Terlingua, TX) - Lodge Reviews - TripAdvisor

Friday night(July 1st) I'll be shooting all night in the ghost town. I plan on shooting some time-lapse of the milky way from the ghost town.
Saturday night (July2nd) I'll be shooting in Big Bend national park all night.
It's going to be a sleep in the day, shoot at night trip. Leaving early Friday morning.

I'll be heading back on Sunday the 3rd so i'll be back home for July 4th.

Let me know if anyone is interested and we can split the cost of gas.

Hopfully one other Dallas/Ft Worth person comes along, because so far it's just me from DFW. Two people from the Houston area are meeting me out there.

BTW, July 1st is the new moon so we will have nice dark skies. Great for astrophotography!

Dang... I wouldn't mind trying to make that work. But it wouldn't make a lot of sense to hitch a ride since I'm due south of you. Terlingua is an "interesting" place and not without a few problems here and there.

I'll definitely have it on my schedule.

Your dang time lapse stuff has really got me interested. I created my first time lapse the other day. 800 frames at 3 frames per second with 12 frame cross fade transitions gave my about 3 minutes (? don't remember exactly how long it was really) of some of the most boring video you could ever see. I couldn't find anything so I shot a squash blossom

You know there's an app for that. Iphone app that is. It's called TimeLapse. It's pretty good. The expensive version is $1.99.

PS- If I go remind me to tell you the "ghost story" from my one time to visit the Terlingua Cemetary I planned to go back later that evening but Big Bend got in the way

lol, a squash blossom would take a while to be interesting in a time-lapse.

I have that iPhone app but haven't really used it, probably need an iTripod or something.

Oh, and no ghost stories until After I shoot in the cemetery.....

I checked out your links, looks brilliant! Thanks for that. I will keep an eye out for your posts as thats right up my street. I am also going to ashamedly pick your brains afterwards for some tips on locations timings etc, if you don't mind of course!

My plans are to be in that area & west of there (BB State Park & Candelaria area as well as BBNP) the last week of June, but will be heading back to Houston(euch) on the 2nd. I might try to look you all up if I'm coming through there at that time. Good luck with your shooting. If the weather cooperates you should get some really neat time lapse stuff!!
