iPhone 4 or wait for 5?

OK, to those that are more tech savvy than I am
I want to upgrade from my 3GS but not sure if I want to go with the iPhone 4 now or wait until the 5 comes out (if it is coming out)
Usually, my luck with phones is 2 months after I get mine new one, a newer one comes out -
if there is another ATT phone with similar iPhone features, I'm open to change...

Supposedly, the latest rumor has Apple having an announcement in August and availability late August. I think the Sept rumor has a bit more creditability than the August but what do I know. :(

It's a toss up, nobody knows what the next gen iphone will have.

I would wait it out for the next gen and be the first in line Wednesday night. :)

I've the older 3G (no S), and am holding out for whatever the next gen will be whether its the 5 or 4s.

I've seen the same rumors...so fingers crossed we actually see something no later than November.

I figure I've waited this long...I can hold out a little longer.

I used a 3G for two and half years, and it was really wearing on me. Slow as molasses and some apps crashing. I went ahead and got the 4 and am glad I did. You never get ahead of the curve anyway.

I have a 3GS and will wait for the iPhone 5. As for the release date Mac Rumors has suggested an end of August release but I think a 4Q2011 release is more likely.

Honestly it's almost like camera bodies, there will always be new ones that are better, faster, cooler, etc. You either go for the deal (iphone 4 will be cheap once the 5 comes out or spring for a 5 when it does eventually come out).

I am in the same boat. I have a 3GS, but I am going to wait for the iPhone 5. I love the "specs". If you already waited this long and if there is nothing wrong with your current phone, why not wait 3 more months.. when it goes on preorder just preorder it so you do not have to wait in line....

Seriously, the announcement of the 5 isn't expected until fall.. and usually widespread availability lags 2-3 months behind that.. so you're realistically 4-6 months from being able to acquire a 5. If its bugging you that much, jump on the 4 now.

My wife was holding out for the 5, she didn't like the boxy feel of the 4... but then she dropped her 3G (no s) and the screen went white and never came back. (Yes, we tried the home methods of fixing it.)

I got lucky and got a 4 in August last year.. upgrading from a first gen.. and while I didn't like the boxy feel at first, either... its grown on me and now the older ones are the ones that feel weird.

if you have the 3GS, stick it out.

the 3G is having troubles with iOS 4 but.. if it's only a few months away, I think you can handle it if it's been this long.

and then switch to verizon. stupid at&t.

I suppose it depends on where you live. I've done quite a bit of research on the differences between the two carriers, and the conclusion was that ATT has the better data network while Verizon has the better voice network. Neither of them is the best for both voice and data. I stuck with ATT because I do more data than voice, and I typically have very few problems with ATT voice.

I am waiting on the 5, but may upgrade my wife's 3G (I have the 3GS). Best of both worlds
