Help a procrastinating new father with announcements and maybe a blog site

This is a two part question.

My daughter was born at the end of April. My wife has been asking me to do birth anouncements for the past couple of weeks. I don't know what website to use to make the announcements. I do have a photobucket account. I use it to post pics of items I want to sell on different boards but that's about it. What would be a good company that I can use over the next couple of yrs to do my announcements and print pictures of my family from time to time? I've looked into Smugmug but think it's more greared towards pros. This is just a hobby for me.

I'm also looking into a site that I can use to post pics so that my family can log onto and see them. I have a FB account but have family and friends that don't. I know some people use blogs and I maybe interested in starting one. That way if friends or family want to see updates they can check in from time to time. What do you guys recommend?

We used Photoshop Elements and self-printed. We did 4x6 and 5x7.

For the websites I am a big fan of SmugMug and started with a base account a few years back, went to Power about a year later, and have a Pro account now.

I am in the same boat with the announcements for my second. Need to get a decent photo and make the cards.
