Most of us prefer to send our cameras west to the California facility.

Ain't that the truth !!!

I had the 5D mirror, don't call it a recall, repair done.

I was not aware of the "repair request" by Canon on the 5D mirror. Needless to say, just as the bride and groom were coming into the reception hall during a wedding I was the sole photographer for back in 2009, the mirror fell off the camera! Luckily I had a backup on me and got a few of the shots I needed.

Canon repaired it, cleaned the camera and sensor and sent it back to me within a week and charged me nothing. I hope that Canon sees better days ahead after this fire and the plant shut downs in Japan.

It will be interesting to hear what Canon does for those that lost equipment being serviced there, during the fire.

I am sure their insurance will be covering it, not Canon directly.

This wouldn't have happened at a Nikon facility.
