My friends on Pixtus know everything.
I am turning to you for a recommendation of where to go for a sabbatical. I need to get away for a few days to clear my head, develop some new products and make some plans for the future of my business.
No pressure but the following is the kind of place of which I have dreamed:
A place high in the mountains of Colorado with a inspirational view. A room that has a balcony or porch overlooking a beautiful vista, where I can relax, dream, plan, and inspire myself. I don't care if it is rustic or modern.
Any ideas?

Colorado Mountain Cabins
Found the site planning out a vacation. Not used them yet, but great looking cabins.

Homeaway also popped up on my searches for places to get away. Looks like many in this link will meet your needs. (filtered to Rocky Mountain National Park) Rocky Mountain National Park Vacation Rentals, Cabins from HomeAway

If you weren't limited to Colorado, this would be a good place to go.

If not for the super dry conditions I would suggest Cabin 101 in the Chisos Basin at Big Bend NP. The cabin is hard to get because it's popular. It's only a short walk to the restaurant from cabin but the location gives you the illusion that you are all alone in a cabin in a mountain forest.
That said, for you it's almost as close to go to Colorado or New Mexico so I can see that as being a better destination. Cool mountain air is invigorating. You might try the Cuchara Valley in southern CO (west of Trinidad). I haven't stayed anywhere there but it's one of my favorite places to go. So much so that I don't go anywhere in Colorado without passing through Cuchara Valley.
It's tourist season so getting away is going to be a little harder than it is in the off season. I've found that even hiking during tourist season is crowded.

For closer to home, something around Lake Travis can be nice and relaxing. You can even see hills!

This is close to Lost Maples State Park: www.foxfirecabins.com
It has been a number of years since we stayed at the "Farm House" there, but I still miss the intense quiet. I would recommend staying at one one the homes and not the cluster of cabins at their main office.
If intent on Colorado - I would go back to Ouray in a minute.
