I have to drive through Montgomery County to get to my house. I bet Monty County still sells them. I'll let you know if the place is open today.

Personally I'd like to see them banned for good! Staying awake while the nieghbors burn up $300 or $400 dollars worth of firecrackers is not enjoyable. Just my 2 cents.

Many counties have such burn bans in place that fireworks displays are canceled and sales are banned. I feel bad for those folks losing expected income, but I feel better for those who could have lost homes and livestock.
In our area oc Central Texas, Ft Hood plans on watering down the field where shells come down and having their display. I believe all neighboring cities including Austin have canceled their displays.

230 counties in Texas are under a burn ban right now

I wouldn't be surprised if the illegality of fireworks is going to result in an increase in "falling bullet syndrome" in some areas of Houston this fourth: not as bad as if it happened on new years, but still...

Falling bullets aren't nearly as dangerous as media have made them out to be - it's the ones on a ballistic trajectory that cause problems. Canonballs? Yes. .30 cal pellets? No. (Nor .451 bullets, etc).
That aside, I saw this ban coming months ago and am not surprised. Instead, I'm throwing a party and brewing beer with my friends. While we're at it we'll consume the last batch I brewed since it was pretty weak on the alcohol and that doesn't sit well with me.

I've got a .338-300 and a 300 grain bullet "falling in" from 1800 yards will pass thru a deer so I have to be REAL careful where I shoot that thing. j/k I realize you are talking shooting straight up... So... are you marketing your weak beer as A'Douls? M'Douls?

I'm marketing it as free beer. It actually tastes pretty good. Nice malt with a solid hop character - I just botched the mash and the sparge so there wasn't much for the yeast to feed on. They made as much alcohol as they could. Poor little guys.

Free Beer... the absolute best beer out there. At least you can make it. I've never tried to make beer. All I've made this year is some peas, squash, corn, ??? the rest is still making.

. | You've got to have your barrel lined up pretty dang close to vertical to have a bullet really "falling": the rest of them are ALL on the tail end of a ballistic trajectory.. Between getting hit in the head with a 230 gr. .45 on its way down, or NOT getting hit in the head with a 230 gr. .45 on the way down: which one would you pick?

I'd take the latter I thought the mythbusters said this one was plausible but unlikely.
BTW- the instant that the bullet leaves the barrel, it's falling. Gravity is king of that contest.
