Good evening all! I appreciate you taking the moment to read my post.
I was on google looking for some answers and this website popped up. I scrolled through a few forums and even did a search to avoid asking a question that I am sure has been asked a billion times.

I am in the Katy TX area. Tomorrow I am taking my teen daughter and her best friend out to shoot some photos. We are looking at Heritage Park in Old Katy plus MKT depot. I was wondering if anyone else had any decent spots. Rustic, Country, Rail Roads, etc.

I appreciate any direction but I would like to stay in our area tomorrow. Thank you in advance!

Mary Jo Pekham Park is right by Old Town Katy and has some wonderful spots for picture taking. A little pond surrounded by various trees and rocks with a dock going out over it. Plus a playground with plenty of fun options and a dog park if you want to bring Fido along!

There is downtown Katy too, brick buildings and big oak trees.

Kelly...I would also go around to some of the new area's of Cinco Ranch down by 1093...there is a large man-made lake with lots of photo-ops...also, if you don't mind heading to brookshire...there are several spots on the way there and past there...

Lastly...just take one of the FM roads off Katy-Hockly...lots of interesting things in the Katy Lands area...just make sure you have GPS on your phone...been lost back there a few times...

Happy Shooting...and Welcome...

I don't know the area, but I will give this warning: railroads are illegal to take pictures on. People have gotten fairly steep tickets AFTER THE FACT from the pictures posted on facebook/blog/website showing they were on the tracks. I would avoid that.

Good luck and have fun!

One more place to look. If you scroll down on the forum page, you'll find a section with locations. Click the Texas link, and it will open onto another thread page where you will find that one of the threads is called "Houston Area Photo Locales". You can check in there for ideas. I saw at least one specific to Katy.

What Tony said, or hop on old business 290 and head out toward Waller on a Sunday, some fantastic things that way as well, including a neat railway area.
