Small world! I happen to look out my window after seeing this and saw a visitor. Too dark for me to shoot well but cool just the same.

That's a one cool owl. However, the title of the video is misleading as this is not a Japanese owl... It's actually from Africa (I think most viewers got that from the map...) and called Northern White-faced Owl.

Since there were no subtitles or any explanation, I will...
The video explained that the reason this owl is able to transform like this is because it is a rather small owl that has a lot more feathers than the similar size birds. Puffing the feathers will make them look bigger to threaten its minor enemies. By pulling the feather really tight to its body makes it look thin like a twig (even hides the big eyes!!) to camouflage when its major enemies approach. The second owl they brought against is the Northern White-faced Owl's main predator and it is one of African Eagle Owl species.

Amazing birds. I love owls.
