Just curious, how many here come from a photographic background? For instance, My Dad was a Pulitzer winning newspaper photographer and my Sister shoots sports and events. Anybody else have a photographic family tree?

Well my dad owned his own studio back about 35 years ago, my first camera was an old Kodak 110. and I've been shooting, and upgrading ever since.

I think if we opened up the criteria a bit we would see a definite trend. While no one made a living in photography (as yet) in my lineage, artistic tendencies are thick as flies..Dad was a commercial artist for a small ad agency in San Antonio and used cameras as just another tool along with Photostat machines, airbrushes and tons of frisket paper, my brother was an architect who used his photography in his work a lot, a close cousin was a custom car designer/builder, and going way way back, GGGF was a traveling violin and ballroom dance instructor during the Republic of Texas. And fast forward to the present, both of my sons are PT musicians (writers/performers). Perhaps that’s why I consider photography as a means to an end (art) and not a end unto itself; if, it only STARTS with a photograph.

One uncle dabbled in photography many years ago, even doing glass plate. His photos and movies from the 30s and 40s inspired me when I was a teenager.

My dad took photography in college and I have some B&W prints of his Harley he sold to get my mom her engagement ring (or as he calls it "the worst mistake of my life - oh yeah, at least I got you out of it.")

No real photography skills in my family line.

Nope.. no artists here. My dad did have a Canon AE-1 which I used for my high school photography class. That's about as good as it gets in my family.

Nope- dad works for Nasa and my mom is an ex-engineer/current math teacher... I was always the one behind the camera, but I only recently actually learned something about photography back in April or so this year...

Lots of relatives with cameras. Mostly family shooters. No artists to speak of.
