iPad yes; but what case? - 07-29-2011, 02:09 AM

So I finally bought an iPad. I know, I know; like the rest of the photographic world.

But i didn't expect to have such an issue with the case. I'm trying my second case now and I hate it. Haven't seen any talk about iPad cases.

So what case do you use?
What are the good points about your case and what do you hate about it?
Where did you buy it and what did it cost?

After wasting money on several third party cases, even a Dodo case, i now use the apple case and couldn't be happier.

In case you end up wondering, like I did, why the black Apple case is $70 while most of the other colors are $40 - the popular colors, like black, only come in leather. The other colors are vinyl.

Using the iPad Smart cover. Like it because it's thin & light, but it's not so great of a stand/brace when I want to set it upright. It works for now though.

Now that is a list. Thanks for the link. I still would like to hear from personal use. An ad is one thing personal experience is another.

I just went through this whole process...

I got the smart cover when I first got my iPad2 and I don't like it at all. It doesn't protect the back nor the corners. Sure enough my son dropped my iPad2 from 2 feet above the ground when he was trying to get it for me:( The corner hit the tiled floor and put some cracks in the screen... Apple replaced it for free (surprise!) but I wanted a little more protection this time.

First, I looked at many available cases online. There were a few that looked really good (Yes, AYL was one!), but I really couldn't make the decision without seeing/holding it myself... So, I went to Apple Store (they have NOTHING for iPad2s!!! Come on, Apple!!), Best Buy, and Fry's.

I looked at InCase MagSnap hardshell slim case that accommodates the smart cover but I did not like how slick the back was... I could see my iPad2 hitting the floor again with this:(

I bought Targus VuScape folio case, but I ended up returning it. I didn't like the way it held the iPad2. It was pushing on my new screen protector and was lifting it up after 2 hours...

I ended up buying Belkin slim folio case at Fry's and love it!
My iPad2 fits nice and snug. I also love the feel of it (both material and design).

Good luck:)

As I said in PM.. I have an original iPad and I like the Apple case well enough.. wish it came with a place for cards, though...

I also carry that within a leather Bible cover I bought years ago to carry my small spiral notebook, etc in... so I use that cover to store cards and pens and a few other things.

I've also thought about buying one of these from APR:

Marware case

I have been using the "eco-vue" portrait mode case for since the original iPad case and now the ipad2. Excellent case and I use it to show pictures at receptions.

My wife had purchased the Incase which she liked but decided she would prefer a cover with the keyboard. So I bought her one from Zagg for her iPad2. She really likes the hard cover on the Zagg as well as how the keyboard works. Today, I received an e-mail from Zagg stating that the snap on the cover fits somewhat differently on an iPad2 that has the shield on it. So they said they were sending another cover so she could use the one which works best.

If I wanted a keyboard and case on the iPad 2 I'd look seriously at the Zagg.

I like the Apple Smart Cover, black leather, with a Hypershield matching back cover. HyperShield
