I saw that. I can only imagine that it is due to his health. If so, he did the honorable thing and I wish him well.

Without Jobs, I now fear Apple will make the mistake of being driven by their shareholders; worrying more about profit margin instead of innovating and letting the rest take care of itself. : (

Sadly, yes. Jobs seemed to be able to look past the temptation of just following the dollar signs and convince his loyal subjects to follow his vision. Because he was seen as larger than life he was able to rise above the pressures of Wall Street expectations. He is a master of serving up the Kool-Aid. He and Apple deserve all their successes. I wish Apple luck, but it's tough when a company loses its soul. Just ask HP.

Remember Steve Jobs is not leaving leaving... he will still be at apple making decisions just not playing the lead role!

I think he got forced to step down because he tried to buy a bunch of HP Touchpads last weekend during the firesale frenzy (since they are technologically superior to the iPad and not locked into a monopoly avenue for apps/upgrades).

What is interesting is that he has far more shares in Disney than he does in Apple and has over 300 patents while other tech leaders like Gates only has a handful. His resignation will be felt, but I don't think it will hurt the company, overall.
