I just started sending links to snopes every time my mother would send me some legend or hoax... She's stopped sending me those at least (the last time I did it, she sent back "You're no fun.").

She still sends me every joke and inspirational thing that strikes her... including those that are embedded in .DOC and .PPS files... really, Mom? You opened that on your computer and forwarded it to me? No wonder your computer has every bit of shareware. spyware, and virus known to mankind.

I've actually had some harsh-love types with my mom about this... and it worked for awhile... but then, slowly... one by one.. more and more emails started to come in.

I find I now have to exercise this about once a year to keep her in check.
