"First Friday" "Second Saturday" Art Walks - 09-03-2011, 07:32 PM

I just attended my first "First Friday" Art trail here last night. I often attended "Second Saturday" when I lived near Sacramento.

I'd like to look into hanging some of my photos. Seeing some of the others gave me a little more confidence - my stuff is better than some I saw! I can't believe the number of blown out clouds and over exposed skies that were hanging in galleries!

I have no idea how to get my stuff hanging, do I just contact the gallery owners? Can it be that easy?

I get the "black frame/white mat" idea; let the photo speak for itself. Is there an "expected" print size?
I noticed a lot of price tags, but nobody buying anything. How many photos do you hang? I just got back two B/W photos that were printed on metallic paper. They're BEAUTIFUL! I already have an idea of the B/W metallic paper theme, I just don't know where to go from here.

From my experience, you can literally just ask. Some are easier to get into than others.

Keep in mind, that after you calculate all of the print costs and the framing costs, not to mention time, etc... Don't be surprised if you don't get anything out of the night. People in Lubbock don't mind looking at stuff on the wall, but they very seldom buy it.

Nevermind -- I'll take care of it myself!

If you're in Lubbock on Friday, I'll be showing some of my photos in the Glassy Alley Gallery during the First Friday Art Trail.

I got stuff hung today (whew!)
Stop by and say "HEY!"
(and tell me how nice my stuff looks)
