I stopped reading after the last 4 words in the first paragraph:

Quote:
Canon Inc. (7751) and Nikon Corp. (7731), the world’s two biggest makers of high-end cameras, may be missing out on the industry’s biggest technology shift since film rolls became obsolete.
Add to this that phones are cutting into entry level P&S sales at a rapid rate. I reckon the mirrorless cameras with larger sensors are cutting into the upper end P&S cameras as well.

I predict: Film & film cameras will outlive P&S cameras.

I would not be surprised if Canon is quietly working on something secret, and introduces a mirror-less camera that puts Sony and Panasonic back into their places. (On the other hand, I assume nothing.) My heavy investment in L glass will keep me primarily interested in Canon cameras for quite a long time, regardless. Not that I am a total Canon fanboy; my most recently-purchased camera is a nicely-preserved Nikon FM3A film camera, which has me dreaming of nice Nikkor glass, including currently-produced lenses.

Unless Canon starts buying sensors from Sony, that will be hard to do.

All those P&S are less mirror.

What they mean is they made a P&S with interchangeable lenses.....
