Although I admit up front I'm still mediocre at best behind the camera I still love it. However with the weather so hot (except the last couple days) and the landscapes so ugly I have only gotten out a couple times lately. What do you do and/or photograph during these times?

Cracks in the concrete; they get bigger every day Although I'm kind of serious about that. I'm a details person, and I find a lot of strange things interesting. I also like to take pictures of some of the few flowers that are surviving, and experimenting with reverse mounting my 50mm lens, using it as a macro.

I tend to photograph my children a lot, not only because they are accessible, but also because I enjoy photographing what I love. If you don't have children consider photographing the people you care about. It can be done anywhere, including by a window inside an air conditioned room!

Oh man, the possibilities are endless. Some have already pointed out a few.
Here are a few more
waterdrops
smoke
still lifes
painting with light,
startrails
go find an old farm house, do some night photography with a flash, add colored gels to the flash, then witout a flash using avaliable light.
find an old cemetery, and use the moon to set the mood.
etc..................
I feel a good photographer is a well rounded one. so get out there and just do something new and different.
