Any news, is it open, closed, what? I heard that they had fires in the Magnolia area and the Renfest was shut.

That whole area around where the ren fest fair grounds are got evacuated a couple days ago. I have not heard any news about them starting it up though.

That shows where the fire was but for the most part it has been contained. If I hear anything about ren fest opening i'll let you know.

Read on one of the local news sites that it's shut down until further notice. All the prep activites that would normally be going on right now have been pushed back.

Their facebook page is giving a lot of fire updates, but mentions no closures. Lots of info for donating cloths and goods.

From their facebook page: "TRF grounds are still safe! Again, we have been untouched by this fire to date and are beyond grateful for that! We are planning to open on October 8 as usual so please keep the faith, do a rain dance or two and keep the crews working on this fire in your thoughts and prayers this weekend."

Looks like a lot of the firefighters are using the grounds as a staging area too. I'm hoping they will open and everything will be fine. Never been, and I bought a groupon to go this year. Was hoping for some interesting photos!

Of course, the best solution would be some rain and the end to the fires. Too many homes and lives have been destroyed already. Apparently (according to TRF facebook page as well) the president has finally decided that the fires are a national disaster.

I have a very nervous bride who is sitting on pins and needles over this, as she is getting married there in November...

I was just thinking how awesome it would be to photograph a wedding there. Hopefully everything is fine, and you'll get to post some of the pics here :)

A wedding while it's on fire would be killer (kidding!)

Can somebody post up the November weekend schedules? The official site is blocked on personal and work computers :\

I'd appreciate it much.

Here inHouston, trying desperately to get the wife and kids out of the hotel so we can get on the road. Sigh a hopeless task.
