STAR WARS on Blu-ray! - 09-16-2011, 10:32 AM

With the release of the STAR WARS Saga on Blu-ray, has anyone purchased and watched them yet? I am interested in some honest feedback about the blu-ray quality of the films. Please only post if you are a fan!

Didn't they just come out today? I am torn on picking up Episodes 4-6. I don't like that Lucas has messed with them even more. I have the DVDs that came with the original version on them. I still think the THX version was probably the best.

Yes, they were released today, but I want get mine for a couple of days from Amazon and I was hoping someone could put out some impressions of the new format. I have read some no so good comments from sites, but I want opinions from my peers.

I don't want em if Han didn't shoot first.

Lucas ruined everything and I am boycotting. I've downloaded the original trilogy that was taken from LaserDiscs... that's all I'll ever buy until Lucas wakes up.

Man...Lucas...just makes money out of thin air with that trilogy...He's such a marketing guru...to think that every 5 to 7 years...he make billions of something he did back in the 70's & 80's....

I am just looking for comments about the Blu-rays and their quality. I don't want to create a STAR WARS war here.

Amazon already shipped mine out Last night.
Check them out here. Check them out here.
Apparently it has bad reviews. Overdone special effects etc.

Michael...overall I like my Sony BlueRay player...my DVD's actually look better on my 1080p 120Hz Samsung...with the BlueRay player over my DVD player...

BlueRays take a little longer to load...and can be a little slower to go thru special features...but you are dealing with 4 to 6 times the information of a DVD....

I would get one, since they are about 100USD now...

I think he learned that from Disney...

to the OP, if you are wondering about bluray quality, it is 2nd to none. Do you have a bluray player? an HDTV, if not, I recommend you buy one of each, then start buying some bluray movies. The quality is phenomenal!!! Now, I am talking about bluray quality only, I do not own the Star Wars movies on bluray.

Star Wars Blu-ray

And on the off chance that you haven't seen the Star Wars films yet—and there are a few of you oddballs out there—here's my quick capsule opinion: The original trilogy is all kinds of awesome and the prequels are mostly disappointing, but all of the films are worth watching, if only so you can finally understand what your nerd friends are rabidly arguing about.

I've had the hd versions for some time, they are simply astounding in clarity and sound quality. I would expect the blu ray to be just as good.

I do kind of wish he had been able to leave the originals as originals, but I get he wanted to make all six flicks into one big story...

Star Wars on Blu-Ray! Fully restored and bastardized in glorious 1080p! Now you can enjoy every worthless change and cringe-inducing addition to the once fantastic films in magnificent HD!!!

I have had a Blu-ray player for a couple of years and an HDTV for just as long. Some BDs look fantastic and then others look like crap. For example, Smokin Aces 2 was horrible quality wise and then Kick Ass was great. I hate the noise seen in lots of BDs and I know it's a transfer thing and the amount of money a studio wants to put in to the release on disc. I am afraid STAR WARS will be the same, bad transfer and then another release in a couple years with new and improved quality. The LOTR Trilogy looks great on BD by the way.

As for the original STAR WARS movies, I loved the DVD releases a couple of years ago that gave the original version and then the special edition on another disc.

if the hd copy I got is any indication, they did a perfect job of the transfer and cleaned it up quite a lot
