Well here is the story..I will try to keep it short. two boys my kids go to school with, both 16, have a mother who has been an alcoholic since they were born. The father died when they were 4, from an accident. two weeks ago, the mother got in an accident and got a DWI. She works for a major oil and gas company, their company requires her to report her DWI. When she got arrested, the boys stayed at friends' houses. When she came home, she threatened suicide if the boys didn't come back home. Boy A said he still wasn't coming home, Boy B couldn't handle the pressure and came back home. Boy B, is also suffering from high blood pressure and is unable to play his favorite sport because of the BP. I called CPS and asked a lot of questions about if I needed to report this issue...
Boy A is living with us for the time being. Luckily both boys are pretty good kids and still go to school. My husband and I are in the inquiring stages to see what we can do to assist the family and the boys. Boy A said Mom has been to treatment for 90 days before...and another intervention has been tried, but mom wouldn't go. He said he has no hope of her going to treatment or of her ever quitting drinking. And you know the extended family is tired of this, and has probably tried everything in the book to solve the problem...so I wonder why we think we can just step in give a solution, but I guess we have to try. I just feel so sorry for these boys....growing up and having to be adults...when they should be enjoying life right now. ....: ( |
