Rain! Rain! Rain! Rain! - 09-19-2011, 06:45 AM

It rained last night, almost an inch. The ground was so dry, that this morning the dogs had no mud on their paws at all. It was great, my kids wanted to go out and play in the rain. Lots of lightning as well. We had a good hard rain which turned into a soft sprinkle for about two hours here. I was suprised that the dogs were not complete mud puppies this morning, but the ground just sucked it all in.

It really helped with the fires up in Bastrop that have burned 1,400+ houses, and 34,000+ acres of land. Still burning but 95% contained.

That's wonderful Murph! We've gotten 3.5 inches since Thursday. That's the most we've had in a year. We actually had a pond in our backyard for awhile.

It isn't hitting Central Texas. I'm glad y'all are getting some much needed rain though.

Yes, the ground is just SO dry, nothing sticks. It just absorbs it all.

We saw the storms and headed towards Arkansas to shoot waterfalls. Even with the rain, none of them were flowing 8-(

It's rained here for two days straight. The first time it rained for about three to four hours, and last night it rained for almost two. We played in the rain for two hours Saturday.

I saw from the Houston LDAR that it was a helluva lightning storm... and of course, I missed it once again.

Yes, it was a helluva storm alright, tons and tons of lightning. I got a 24 second time-lapse of the storm coming into Arkansas Sunday morning, although it wasn't quite as spectacular up there, as it was in DFW.

The storm over Dallas Friday must have been a pretty good one since we got deversions that couldn't land there. We only had two Super80's land but there were four more wanting to divert to our airport but we didn't have the fuel or space for them. The fire fighting planes were taking up all our space and had used most of our fuel.
Last night we got about 3 hrs of rain and some really nice thunder and lightning. Perfect sleeping weather for me.
