dfw area horseback riding? - 09-22-2011, 10:56 AM

wanted to take the gf horseback riding on sat or sun. last time i did this was like 7 years ago and i can't remember the place i did it. i've been looking on the internet trying to find places, but i'm not finding what i'm looking for. basically looking for a place that has the horses to ride, and a large area to ride in.

we both grew up around (her family owned for awhile) horses, and i'd say i'm between novice and intermediate on riding. i'm comfortable riding full gallop, although after a few minutes i do tire

ideally i'd like to find the place i did it before. it was probably an hours driving time north of dfw (and i think i got to it from 75). they rented the horses hourly, and i think it was like $40/h? not sure of the acreage, but it seemed like it was a good 50 acres. it was a 'free ride', where we didn't have a guide. full gallop was permitted. it had a large (prob 1-2 acre) open pasture to ride around in, and it had a creek trail that ran through it as well. you could go where ever you wanted within the 'ranch', and just came back to the office/stable when your hour was up.

so, anyone have any recommendations on where to go?

I had a friend who used to work at the Benbrook stables and her and I would go out. It was a lot of fun, but since she worked there, I guess she would have been the guide.
