So this guy was just looking to raise $15,000 for his iPod nano watch product and instead he raised nearly $1,000,000. Wow. How about that for overachieving!?

I really love kick starter. The power of the internet to determine what types of retail products and projects we want.

Really neat concept and design. I'm sure there is a big market for something like this. I'd even consider getting a Nano to take advantage of a product like this. -G

Funny. I had never heard of kickstarter until a few days ago. There is a brewery in Denton called Armadillo that is trying to open. They have raised $34,000 on the site. I was showing it to my wife.

I haven't really looked into it but I thought the money being raised were just donations. If that's the case, I don't see why people in the nano example would keep giving there money to this guy if he already has way more than he asked for. Now if it is considered an invetment and they are being promised to share in the profits I could understand. However, I find that hard to believe since that would mean Kickstarter would have to comply with a ton of financial regulations.

Abel. Thanks for the explanation on how Kickstart works. I wish I knew about something like that back when I adapted a water bottle cage to mount on a crutch.

Many years back I broke my leg mountain biking. Just getting a glass of water from the kitchen to the living room was impossible. I adapted a water bottle cage from my bike to attach to one of my crutches. I then just filled a water bottle, put it in the cage and I was able to move about with easy. All the doctors and nurses at Baylor Medical Center loved the concept.

I'm assuming that you will get the watch piece that you paid for - IF - they actually get made. Is there a money back guarantee if they aren't able to actually produce the item that they suggested that they would?

You are not paying for a product, you are investing in a start up. So if the product never makes it to market, then no, you would not receive the "bonus". I look at it as a dividend.
