Speaking of facebook, I just saw Nikon has an opening for a social media manager, in case any one was interested.

They back-pedelled this morning with an "oops...my bad" apology.

I guess Ansel Adams wasn't any good, since he didn't use Nikkor lenses...

Sounds like they might be out of touch with photographers

I follow Nikon on both Facebook and Twitter. As for their back-peddling, they say that they were trying to make the point that one may make better images with better equipment. More specifically better lenses. Then, in the apology the seem to "slam" third party lenses.

While I agree that a kit lens will only take a photographer so far, many of Nikon's customers are happy with the kit lens. Telling your customers their photos suck because they are not using a $2,000 lens just does not make sense to me.

The social marketing, in my opinion, was poorly done and so was the apology. One thing I learned living an rural west Texas. Once you find yourself in a hole, stop digging!

That's probably just some intern or a third-party social network marketing company writing that. Oopsie.

I don't know what the big deal is. I might have changed it to, "A photographer can only deliver work as good as his equipment will allow." If you want good images, you will have to have good equipment. The facebook post was a little sloppy in getting that across, but it's still valid. I didn't read the statement by Nikon to mean that a photographer would automatically be better by having better equipment, but apparently most people have. I guess I'm not most people.

I saw someone in there say they were going to switch to Canon after this post. Really? Nikon, please keep idiots like that on your side! lol!
