A lot of rumors / speculations about the upcoming announcement later this morning….

AT&T and Verizon to receive iPhone 4S (hardware updates with the current 4G body)

Sprint to receive excusive iPhone 5 with the new body style until 2nd quarter of 2012.

Anyone else following today's announcement?

The BGR report:

iPhone 5 -- Sprint scores exclusive thanks to $20 billion deal with Apple?

^ $20 bill/30 mill = $670 unit...that seems high? hasn't the price of the iphones been holding steady at subsidized prices of around $350 or so?

furthermore 30mill/4years = avg 7.5 mill/year (why the hell 4 years? isnt standard cycle of iphone around 2.5 years or so??)

as of Q1 2011: "That brings Sprint's total number of users up to 33 million post-paid customers and 13.1 million pre-paid users."

seems ambitious, lets say prepay portion will be minimal, and not all 33m will have full access to the 4G (some areas dont have wimax and I thought some sprint was converting to lte)...

i think the exclusivity is some ploy to play with some early trading. they have some dumbasses at BGR.

CMOS Backside illumination... sounds interesting.... Hybrid IR filter... 5 element lens and f/2.4 aperture... wow...with the A5 processor..... worth the upgrade from my 3GS IMO......

My tired 3G , no "s", knows it's days are numbered as I was getting the white screen of death this AM.

I will be per-ordering this Friday.

Even more telling than the collective faceplam from all the tech blogs was the fact that Apple's stock remained flat. The absolutely meh-zmerizing announcement was disappointing for me, personally, as I was considering going back to the iPhone from the Thunderbolt if the 5 was a good enough update. I was willing to pay the non-subsidized price, at that. Then the announcement happened...




And I decided I'd rather not.
