I felt an indescribable glee when I held my first iPod. I felt the same with my first iPhone. That said, I'm surprised how much this bad news has affected me. I've never been a fanboi or anything like that, but I know we've lost someone special. I don't know what the future holds for technology, but it seems a bit dimmer, today. Goodbye, Steve. You will be dearly missed.

As someone else said, we've lost not only jobs in this country but Jobs too. Not the same without either.

Yeah. It was great when he cured cancer, AIDS, and poverty. Oh wait, he didn't. He just told a bunch of engineers to make a few a products to these specs. To idolize him in death like a golden calf is farking crazy. Yes, that's what I'm seeing on forums.

Jobs changed lives. He didn't cure those things, but then again - no one has. He did was he was good at better than anyone else ever has. It isn't idolizing him, it is appreciating a man that was on of the greatest innovators and marketers our world has ever seen.

It is not idolization. It is just being respectful and appreciative of the man's special contributions to our lives, modes of communication as well as being the major force behind the tremendous success of Apple. In addition, his drive and dedication, even during sickness, are to be admired and mimicked! We need more "giants" like him in this country! We would be a much better country if we were to "idolize" and imitate people like him, instead of sports figures, and music icons!!!

So, one would have to accomplish all of that for you to respect them, or acknowledge their 'life-changing' status? Wow, you set the bar kinda high. Tell you what, next time you use a laptop or a smartphone, appreciate the fact that even if it's not made by Apple, it's design has quite possibly been influenced in a very positive way.

He is the modern day Leonardo Da Vinci. Very few men on this planet can claim that distinction. RIP

I am discouraged that you would say this. The mean fact that you would post this is obvious that you are ignorant to the inventions and innovations that Jobs bestowed upon you. Try and run your computer without a mouse, Point and click??? Yep that was Jobs. With some of his inventions and innovations the issues that you describe might be fixed. He didn't just "Tell;" he did and did better than anyone else.

Please have some respect.

I wonder when Steve Wozniak's time comes, if he will receive the same sadness, heart felt sorrow and media attention that Steve Job's is receiving?

Jobs may hold inventor patents well after Apple was created but he was nothing more than an entrepreneur that kick started Apple into a business. Where as Steve Wozniak, actually created the Apple I and Apple II with his bare hands. Something Jobs did not do.

How about Jef Raskin? This man started and created the Macintosh Project. He died in 2005 and received very little media attention. The Mac that made Apple what it is today and beyond was Raskins creation, certainly NOT Jobs.

Yet Jobs is the man who has taken credit for all awesome toys that we enjoy from Apple.
