I'll be honest -- I have no problem with lending gear to friends that I know are competent with the equipment.

I would rather lose gear than good friends. Not saying friendship is contigent upon what they can get from me, but the truth is, I would want them to be there for me if I needed them, so shouldn't be any big deal if I am there for them when they need me.

Nevermind -- I'll take care of it myself!

Does your insurance cover loaned out equipment?

Would they rent it from you?

If you lost a friendship over not loaning the tools of your trade, was that a friend?

My insurance doesn't allow for use by other people and the tax laws don't allow for personal use by my professional gear. I'm really sorry.

I ended up offering the 7D out of guilt from overreacting, but they said don't worry about it. So, this was all for nothing.

To many times people jump to the conclusion that the other poster is being a smarta$$ or insulting when sometimes they are not. It's hard to tell the true meaning behind a post because as humans we rely on the persons tone and body language to get the true meaning. I've mad post before and had another poaster jump all over me when I was actually agreeing with them. Like someone else said, you know this person which gives you an advantage but you might consider what was going on when the person sent the text, maybe they were in a rush, like needing to get to the restroom really quick. lol. I used to be bad about having a short fuse but I guess old age and living through a teen daughter and having a teen son right now has mellowed me out.
Give the person the benefit of doubt and if it turns out they were being sarcastic then rip em a new one.
