That happens to me a lot. I use Linux, so people automatically think I'm some kind of computer genius (I'm not) because 'Linux is for geeks'. I know how to maintain my computer and keep it running good and all that, but my skills don't go much farther than that.
Maybe 15 years ago I was pretty skilled at anything computer related, but a lot has changed since then and I haven't kept up to date.
I know how to do very basic things in Windows, but any more than that - I pretty much have to resort to Google. (And I still have to Google some stuff for Linux too...)
I get people wanting me to 'fix' their computer, and all I can really tell them is 'switch to Linux and I
might be able to fix it'. LOL
I hate telling that to people though, because usually it's people that would go out and buy hardware, peripherals, or games without checking compatibility first - then my phone would be ringing again to go make their new stuff work. (Which might not even be possible...)
So, I just say - 'I can't fix it - take it to a shop'.
